Weekly Tip: Use a credit card with no foreign transaction fees when traveling overseas.

Traveling internationally is expensive. Travelers have to pay for costly flight tickets and lodging, plus the food, entertainment, and more once they get overseas. And with the U.S. dollar being weak compared to many European countries, it can end up getting very pricey. So, if you are going internationally, it is important to save whenever you can. An easy way to do this is by using a credit card with no foreign transaction fees.

Many credit cards charge a transaction fee of 3% per dollar spent abroad. So, every time you make a purchase, you’ll end up spending more, just for making that purchase in a foreign country. And although 3% may seem small, it will add up fast (especially if you are making a lot of purchases). Luckily, there are certain credit cards that have no foreign transaction fees. These cards are ideal for taking abroad and will help consumers save significantly on costs.

Travelers should only consider credit cards with no foreign transaction fees when traveling outside the U.S. Along with not having to pay extra when purchasing things internationally, many of these credit cards even offer bonus travel rewards, introductory offers, and other benefits perfect for travelers.
