With the holiday break coming up, many people are travelling. Whether you are going overseas for a fun vacation or just returning home for the holidays, there are certain things you should do to get your credit card ready before you leave.
·Call your credit card company ahead of time. If you don’t travel much, don’t use your credit card much, or are going out of the country, make sure to alert your credit card company. If they are unaware and see your card being used in a different location, they may think it is suspicious activity and deactivate your card.
·Make a list of your credit card numbers and customer service numbers. If you lose your credit card or someone steals it, you most likely will not have access to your statements and the information you need to close the account. So, make sure you have all the information you need ahead of time to quickly contact your credit card company in the case of an emergency.
·Verify your card’s limits. Make sure your card is active and double check the expiration date. Your credit card won’t do you much good if it’s expired. In addition, confirm the available credit limits on your cards so you will know how much you can spend and can avoid having your card declined.
·Last, bring more than one card. Not all cards are accepted everywhere, so having more than one card increases your chances of being able to use it. Furthermore, if one of your cards is stolen or lost, you will not be stranded without any money.
Getting ready for vacations can be stressful, but if you follow these tips, your credit cards will be ready to go!
