A new survey by management consulting firm Accenture shows that millennials don’t want to work for large corporations. According to this study, only 15% of new college graduates want to work for the big corporations. Instead, more young people are looking towards medium sized businesses (35%) and start-ups and government agencies (10%).

Why the change?

60% of these new 2015 grads explained that they would rather work for a company with a “positive social atmosphere” even if that means they will get paid less. In the past, working for a large corporation was seen as successful and stable. Now, people are moving towards the smaller jobs, valuing success in terms of being a little more risky if that means doing something good.

Will this change last?

Who knows. Many millennials have the luxury of living at home or getting financial help from their parents. If this changes, they may move towards more stable jobs with better benefits. As of now though, millennials are staying away from corporate America.
